Irondequoit Ambulance Board of Directors
Irondequoit Ambulance is seeking to add members to its Board of Directors.
We are a non-profit, fully certified Advanced Life Support service, having served the Irondequoit community continuously for the past 42 years. The Board of Directors’ responsibility is mainly oversight of the financial aspect of the business.
Anyone interested in Emergency Medical Service in the Town of Irondequoit is welcome to apply to join the Board. New members will be selected by the Board based on interest and areas of expertise. Prior EMS experience is not required.

Board Member Job Description
The Irondequoit Ambulance Board of Directors consists of 9 members.
There are four officers of the Board: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer elected annually by the members.
Anyone interested in Emergency Medical Service in the Town of Irondequoit is welcome to apply to join the Board. New members will be selected by the Board based on interest and areas of expertise. This is a voluntary and non-compensated position.
The duties of the Board of Directors are as follows:
- Become familiar with the organization, its finances, activities, policies, procedures, and by-laws.
- Attend all Board Meetings and participate in discussions and decision-making.
- Attend committee meetings, as needed, for a particular project the Board is considering.
- Be prepared for Board meetings by reviewing all material submitted prior to the meeting. This includes monthly financial statements, minutes of the prior month’s meeting and any Operational Reports submitted by the Chief.
- Sign a conflict-of-interest statement annually.
- Recruit, supervise and evaluate the Operations Chief.
- Approve annual raises and benefits for the employees.
- Hire an auditor who will submit an annual report to the Board in a timely manner
- Consider approve of all expenditures over $1,000 that the Operations Chief suggests.
- Oversee fundraising activities by the Organization using professional help as needed.
Note: The Organization provides insurance against liability for its Board Members and can be reviewed upon request.
